Who is eligible for assistance from the RIVMA Companion Animal Foundation?
Pet owners must be residents of Rhode Island and income-eligible to receive CAF assistance and apply for assistance through their veterinarian. The Foundation has established a set of criteria, which allows participating veterinarians to determine whether a client is able to benefit from the fund. Those criteria include federal poverty level guidelines and HUD community median income standards, as well as pet owner participation in programs such as:
- Food stamps
Supplemental Security Income- General public assistance
- Medicaid (Medical Assistance Program)
- RiteCare
- RI Department of Human Services
Childcare Assistance Program - Subsidized housing
- WIC
- Family Independence Program
- SSI
- SSDI
- Heating assistance
